Bob

"Sometimes the smallest things
take up the most room in your heart."

~Winnie the Pooh

We wanted to share a glimpse
of "one of our own,"
this week.

The great-grandfather seated on the
couch with the latest member of his family
also volunteers to read with kids at Parkside.

Both he and his wife make a
difference for our youngsters.
Happy holidays to Bob and his loved ones!

Countdown to Christmas

Let's give a hand to a wise
lady, who decided to shower her
grandchildren with books this month.
What a lovely idea for them all!

Each one is wrapped, set by
the tree and will help the little
ones count-down to Christmas.

Did we mention there's also a
special holiday blanket, to snuggle
beneath as each book is shared together?

books in the life of a child."

A Good Friend

"You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last
page and feel a little as if
you have lost a friend."

Foster Fluency for Kids

Oral reading fluency
is the ability to read
with accuracy, and with
the appropriate rate,
expression, and phrasing

It's important because fluency
provides a "bridge" between word
recognition and comprehension.

Pure Bliss

In a grove like this, with no two limbs

Let's make books plentiful,
and encourage the reader!

Let's All Do This

What's my Super Power?
I inspire kids to read!

We must advocate
for youngsters to
have a "rich" reading life.

Shame on us.....because if
we don't, they won't have one at all.

For a "Love of Books"

Today in what would have been Jackie Kennedy's
85th birthday, we think her words ring as true as they did
during the 1960's when she was raising two young children.

Sounds like this youngster

See the link (above) for lists of material
that "fit" the youngster who has moved
beyond "easy readers" but are not really
ready to start middle grade novels.
