A Fall Favorite

Reading & stories at school,
inspired by "Room on the Broom."

Making "a connection" with a story to
something real is a great way to see if a child
understands passages or a book they've read.

"My grandmother in Sumner has Halloween
candy in a bowl in her living room.  I love
to sneak a piece or two when no one's looking!"
                                                                        ~Olivia

"I like going trick-of-treating.  My favorite
candy to get is Snickers bars or M & M's."
                                                     ~Daniel

"Fall is awesome!  Halloween is Monday
October 31st.  I can't wait.  We go trick
-or-treating and get to dress up that night!
It is a great time for kids everywhere.
                                                                      ~Brevyn

Read to Them

Reading aloud is widely recognized as

 the single most important activity

leading to language development.

Among other things, reading aloud

builds word-sound awareness in children,

a potent predictor of reading success.
